Ordinariate Chrism Mass
Fr. Joshua traveled to Houston this past Thursday (March 26) to participate in a day of recollection with his fellow Ordinariate priests, and to concelebrate the annual Chrism Mass at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham. During the Chrism Mass, the Bishop consecrates the Sacred Chrism and blesses the Oil of the Sick and the Oil of the Catechumens, and priests renew their ordination promises. The oils which have been blessed are brought back to the individual parishes by the priests to be used throughout the year for baptisms, confirmations, and anointing of the sick.
Vatican Document on
Anglican Patrimony
Earlier this month, Bishop Lopes met with Pope Leo XIV during the plenary meeting of the Bishops of the Personal Ordinariates established under the Apostolic Constitution Anglicanorum coetibus. In addition, the bishops met with the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith. As a result of that meeting, Bishop Lopes stated in a message this week, "The Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith, in consultation with the three Ordinariate bishops, has prepared a reflection on our unique English patrimony. For those of us in the Ordinariate, it is an exhortation to live this patrimony in all of its richness. We have been given a unique set of tools (the way we worship, the way we structure parish life, the centrality of family life, etc.) which add to the vitality of the Catholic Church. Our Ordinariate identity arises from fidelity to this patrimony and this mission. Our diversity does not detract from the underlying communion of the Church…it strengthens it."

Upcoming hospitality!
EASTER WEEKEND (April 4/5): We will celebrate after The Great Vigil of Easter with an All***** toast, grilled meats, drinks, and treats - please bring something to share! This nighttime celebration will be our hospitality event for the weekend, so we will NOT have a gathering after the 11am Mass on Easter Sunday.
DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY (April 12): We will have a BBQ lunch after the 11am Mass. Meat and buns will be provided; please bring a BBQ side dish to share - coleslaw, potato salad, chips, etc. Extra volunteers are needed to help serve and clean up as Gary, Marcia, and Stephanie will all be gone this weekend!
We will also have our Easter Egg Hunt on April 12 - see next note!
Easter Egg Hunt April 12
We will have an Easter Egg Hunt after the 11am Mass on Sunday, April 12. We have plenty of plastic eggs but need a lead volunteer to coordinate filling and hiding the eggs. Multiple volunteers to assist a lead volunteer would be great - the eggs can be filled prior to Sunday, and then someone (or several someones) who attends the 8:30am Mass on April 12 can hide the eggs during the 11am Mass.
Please let us know if you can help by calling or emailing the parish office (wncord@gmail.com / 828-393-5775). Thank you!
Thanks to all who joined us for
Stations of the Cross and the Low Country Boil on Friday, March 27 - and thanks to Jake for doing the cooking!
