Sixteenth Sunday in Trinitytide

Construction work
outside the church this week -
No Daily Mass Tues and Wed (Oct 7&8)
Thanks to donations and pledges received for the Home Campaign, we are able to begin work on some of our more critical renovation projects. This week (Oct 6-10) we will have work crews here to replace the cement stairs from the parking lot to the church. Also this week, Father Johnson will be out of town from October 6-9 for the annual Ordinariate Priests' Convocation, so we will NOT have daily Mass on Tuesday, Oct 7 or Wednesday, Oct 8, while the work is underway. Our weekend schedule will remain the same. (If work is not complete by the weekend of Oct 11-12, we will have our Sunday Masses as usual but you may have to walk from the parking lot up to the driveway to enter the church. Please watch your email and phone for updates.)
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS)
Parents Meeting after Masses on Sunday, Oct 12
There will be a meeting after each of the Masses (8:30am and 11am) this Sunday, Oct 12, for parents of children ages 3-8 to meet the CGS teachers and get some materials. The meeting will be about 15-20 minutes.
Home Campaign Update
We have already had $417K of $520K pledged for our Building Fund through the Home Campaign - thanks to the generosity of several parishioners, we are already 80% of the way to our 3 year pledge goal in the Home Campaign!
Next Sunday, October 12, is
Snack Sunday
We invite you to bring a shareable snack to enjoy after Mass. As always, coffee will be provided!
New Music at 11am Mass
We introduced some new music at the 11am Mass Sunday, Oct 5. The link below will give you a chance to hear the music. If you would like to navigate to the specific pieces we are using, you can start with the Credo at the 5-minute mark in the video. (In the first comment under the video, if you expand the comment, you can jump to specific pieces of music within the video.)
While allowing for the use of the vernacular in the Liturgy, Vatican II declared that "the use of the Latin language is to be preserved in the Latin rites."
The Divine Worship Missal, which was authorized for use by Pope Francis in 2015 for Ordinariate parishes, is a form of the Latin Rite. One of our particular "treasures to be shared" is our "Sacral English," English choral music and English chants.
Nonetheless, since we are a part of the Latin Rite, and seeing that the Vatican II directed that "steps should be taken so that the faithful may also be able to say or to sing together in Latin those parts of the Ordinary of the Mass which pertain to them" we have been taking steps to learn the Latin parts of the Mass.
Organist Needed!
We are in search of a part-time organist - someone proficient in sight-reading music and ideally familiar with Gregorian chant and plainchant, performing on a full-size Allen Digital Organ. The basic responsibilities are playing for the 11am Sunday Mass each week and could also include occasional Feasts, Holy Days of Obligation and possibly expanding to playing hymns at the 8:30am Mass. For the interim, we would also consider a trained pianist as we can temporarily use a keyboard with an organ setting. If you are interested, or can recommend someone to us, please contact the parish office at
wncord@gmail.com or 828-393-5775 (ext 0). Thank you!
Choir Survey!
We are looking to expand our choir! If you are interested in singing or have questions, please fill out our survey so that we can help address any potential obstacle or answer any questions. Thank you!

Prayer and Worship Resources
All copies of the Divine Worship Study Missal and Divine Worship Daily Office have been purchased. Currently, both the Study Missals and Divine Worship Daily Office (Commonwealth edition) are out of stock at Catholic Truth Society. We will be notified when they are available again and can place another order if there is interest. (For our first order, the Study Missal was $105 and Daily Office was $95; this could change on future orders due to purchasing from the UK and conversion rates and overseas shipping costs fluctuating.)
Catholic University of America is printing a US edition of the Daily Office which is available for pre-order on their website. The expected publishing date is Dec 12, 2025 and the cost is $55. Pre-orders can be placed using this link:
