Continue the Pentecost Novena
The Pentecost Novena is prayed on the 9 days between the Ascension and Pentecost, recalling the time the Apostles spent gathered in the Upper Room praying and waiting. See St. Gregory Prayer Book page 182, or the PDF below. (If you would like to purchase a St. Gregory Prayer Book, it is available on Amazon:

TOMORROW!
This Saturday, Jun 7:
Flat Rock Ice Cream Social
St. Edmund’s will have a tent at the Social - volunteers needed!
We need volunteers to help staff our tent at the Social! We also need some outdoor games or activities - or other ideas for encouraging people to stop and talk to us - to have at the tent. Contact Stephanie Butler or Donna Curry (e-mail us at
wncord@gmail.com/call us at 828-393-5775) to let us know how you can help out. This is a great opportunity to get involved with our Flat Rock neighbors (and enjoy some free ice cream!). The Social will take place at the Flat Rock Village Hall on Saturday, June 7, from 12-4pm.
Collect for the Seventh Sunday of Easter:
O God the King of glory, who hast exalted thine only Son Jesus Christ with great triumph unto thy kingdom in heaven: we beseech thee, leave us not comfortless; but send to us thy Holy Spirit to comfort us, and exalt us unto the same place whither our Saviour Christ is gone before; who liveth and reigneth with thee, in the unity of the same Holy Spirit, ever one God, world without end.

Learn the Creed in Latin
While allowing for the use of the vernacular in the Liturgy, Vatican II declared that "the use of the Latin language is to be preserved in the Latin rites."
The Divine Worship Missal, which was authorized for use by Pope Francis in 2015 for Ordinariate parishes, is a form of the Latin Rite. One of our particular "treasures to be shared" is our "Sacral English, " English choral music and English chants. Nonetheless, since we are a part of the Latin Rite, and seeing that the Vatican II directed that "steps should be taken so that the faithful may also be able to say or to sing together in Latin those parts of the Ordinary of the Mass which pertain to them" we have been taking steps to learn the Latin parts of the Mass.
During more solemn seasons and feasts of the year at the 11am Mass, we have been introducing more Latin for the Ordinary (Gloria, Sanctus, Pater Noster, Agnus Dei). The response has been wonderful and this Sunday we will be adding what is perhaps one of the more challenging pieces of the Ordinary: the Creed. Listen to the YouTube video below to prepare and be ready to participate.
